“What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything?” Van Gogh

Art

I’ve pretty much grown up doing some form of art, whether it be sketching something in my sketch pad, painting on a canvas or doing comissions for portraits. The front cover for the first issue of the monthly magazine features a marble woman which actually has a story behind it.

The idea of the marble woman actually came from one of the humanoid species featured in my SFF novel, The Sun Below the Water-sky. This novel is set in a fantasy world called Zerus, a planet so beautiful that an advanced humanoid race called valcore colonised it. Valcore come from Nademsia, anothe planet in the cyclone galaxy. Nademsia is home to two types of humanoids, valcore as previously mentioned and cyfoids otherwise known as daemons. The marble woman featured in the picture, is a visual representation of what a cyfoid, daemon, looks like. They have marble skin, but can shape shift and are actually, despite the connotations attached to daemons, completely benevolent beings.

To create this image I used: A3 cartridge paper and prisma colours to get that marble effect.

This image took me about a week to complete as each marble took some time to get perfect. I decided to use this image as a front cover because I felt that visually, it’s very eye-catching and offers something a little different. However, stay tuned for more out of this world art and more visual representations of, beneishans, the inhabitants of planet Zerus.
